Dr. Sara Gellis DO is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician. Dr. Gellis received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin- Madison. She went on to pursue her medical degree at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York City. She then completed her residency training at South Nassau Communities Hospital, where she was able to put her passion for health and wellness into practice.
Dr. Gellis believes in combining Western modern medicine with nutrition and mindfulness to treat the mind, body, and spirit in order to achieve optimal health. She believes that healing occurs on many levels including mental, physical and emotional. As a family physician, she has learned to nurture ongoing and trusting relationships through individualized care for each of her patients as well as through comprehensive care of the entire family. For the past few years, she practiced family medicine in New York City, North Carolina and New Jersey.
Outside of Dr. Gellis’ medical pursuits, she is a new resident of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn and is excited to live and care for this charming Brooklyn community. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, hiking, skiing, reading, traveling, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends and family. She is also a certified Vinyasa yoga instructor. Dr. Gellis is thrilled to be a part of the Leaf Medical team.
Dr. Gellis is a clinical instructor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and is affiliated with New York Presbyterian Hospital.
